I get an email that a "contact" form has been submitted on my website. I get a second email saying my Package 1 was purchased (by the same person). Package 1 is a personalized evaluation and vehicle location service. I thought it was strange that the customer paid for a service without taking advantage of my "free consultation." So I call the woman up to make sure she understands what she is getting. During the course of the conversation she says "Well, I have this Highlander Hybrid that I am kind of sick of...I would kind of like a wagon...in fact I would really like a manual wagon. I know BMW used to make a 3-series with a stick. Do you think you can find me one?"

...within minutes I was able to locate an E91 within a few hours drive. She is going to look at it tomorrow!

All my other clients are nice people who want "regular" cars: sedans, SUVs, luxury cars etc...not Automatch crisis worthy cars like manual, BMW, wagons.

I tried looking for a manual e91 with msport for months in the NY tristate area. The closest I came was a few manual non sport package wagons. I gave up. The week after i bought my 128 (6 speed, msport), my local dealer had a 2012 6 speed, 328 m sport. Unfortunately, they wanted 36k :(.

Good job! In two years when i finish my degree and get a real job I may have to call you to help search for me.

How about a rear-drive two-seat convertible that is new enough that getting a car loan is not going to be impossible, stickshift, under $25k, reliable enough to drive daily, and with enough interior space that a 6'3" 300 lb guy like me can be comfy?

I'm guessing that a corvette will be about the only one to fit all of those.

Autos are fairly easy to come by. But I will tell you getting a "deal" on these is hard, dealers know they are rare and good examples go for top dollar. Rather than give me your money you should just set up an Autotrader alert for them and when one pops up in your area snag it.

Maintaining a 10+ year old BMW on a teacher's salary... that'd be a stretch. Even though the M3 is a wonderful car that makes a wonderful noise. A family friend is a BMW sales guy and enthusiast so maybe it's a possibility. ..

Fair point, but would a used 370Z or Vette really be that much better to maintain? I think either way you'll need to budget for maintenance anyway...or lower the initial purchase budget and sock away the rest for maintenance.

I do love cars bro :) Most of the deep stuff I know comes from here and Jalop; had the passion from youth but not the knowledge! The exhaust manifold I was referring to, is simply what attaches to the engine block, to take the exhaust fumes away from the combustion chambers (where the pistons are) and the 4 pipes you see in the manifold converge into your car's arsehole :D I was mocking that ad because cast iron is heavy and incredibly outdated to be used in cars!
